Ashvita Art Objects &
Artifacts was started on October 18th 2002 by Ashvin Rajagopalan. Ashvin
is a graduate of Pratt Institute, New York, USA. With a strong
background in Art History and a passion for Fine Art, Ashvin Rajagopalan
set up Ashvita with intentions to promote upcoming artists from South
India. The
gallery is located in a heritage house of Chennai (the former residence
of Dr. E V Kalyani). The house has been maintained as is with only a few
modifications to accommodate artwork. The house is surrounded by a
beautiful garden. There is ample parking space for up to twelve cars at
a time.
Cafe Ashvita was set up
on June 21st 2003. The garden space in the back of the house was ideal
to set the mood for a cafe in the heart of busy Mylapore.
